Blackback G12H30 Too Honky

Post by Icarus » Tue Aug 22, 2023 10:47 pm

Hi Guys

I just bought a no name cab with like pretty good condition Blackback G12H30's
75HZ date 1978 .

I bought it then took to an audition , so not a great deal of time to examine it

The problem is the cab/speakers sounded so different than any other G12H30 cab I have every used
the sound was quite boxy/honky , Not like a half cocked wha ..

Very little bass and top end . Not the punchy sound I was expecting

And did not have the same output or volume than I expected .

Has anyone had this issue with Blackback G12H30's ?

My guess is that they were wired wrong and some are out of phase, which is characterized by the lack of bass and punch.

Thanks for that Info ,
I just got a message from my tech , He had a look at the cab and speakers and tells me the speakers are in Phase and all working fine .
