Hi ,
A few months ago , I put a Metroamp JTM45 board kit in a reissue Bluesbreaker . Anyway , the kit came with film type resistors and the amp sounds good but , I want to start fooling around with the amp again .

As I understand it , there are particular positions on the board where carbon comp resistors sound best , and other locations where they make almost no difference in tone

What locations would be key spots to use carbon comp resistors ?

Try them as input resistors, mixers and in the tone stack.

68k, 270k and 56k.

To maximize the sweet second harmonic distortion that CC resistors add to your signal, use one for the plate resistor on the second preamp gain stage. There is a good article on this at RG Keen's GEO page here:
