I'd like to thank Jim & Dave & George for the help in getting the kit up & running. I had a problem with lack of tone & bottom end and they all helped in getting to the root of the problem - which was mostly my inexperienced soldering technique & adding some swamp resistors to the grids of the output tubes as well as a common mistake of 470K resistor at the V3 cathode instead of a 470ohm. The key - as everyone says - is to take your time, be very meticulous with wiring placement and get damned good solder technique. You can pay 3 grand for an amp like this or build one yourself for a third of that & have an amplifier that's equally well made & sounds fantastic.
Thank you Metro folks!
