Who can build me a JTM 45?

Post by britishbluesfan » Tue Jan 04, 2011 11:48 pm

Hey guys, I was planning on buying one of George's JTM 45 kits for the New Year, but they are no longer available. Can any one on the forum build me an accurate JTM 45 replica for around the same price as a one of George's Kits. I was looking for a stock Vintage correct circuit with SOZO Mustards and and RS STYLE OT. IF any of you guys can do this can you PM a quote, and Ill get back to you as soon as I can.
Thank You
Good Luck George, I hope the New Year works out great for you and your family.

I Looked into those but I can't afford one. Are the ceriatone chassis kits a god starting point for a clone, I would upgrade the Transformers with MM, and the tone caps with mustards.

I wouldn't, not if you want a vintage correct tone. I'd go with Heyboer clones personally. Metro, Marstran etc.
So I like purple, okay!!!!!!

I have one ready to go right now that I was about to put on Ebay for $1750.00 shipped.

It has Mercury Magnetics all around, perforated board, mustard caps, celestion G12M'sm all in a Mojotone cabinet.

It's brand new and burned in for about 24 hours.

Shipping is gonna kill me on this unless you can pick it up in central Texas. I can discount further if you can pick it up in person. Let me know if you are interested.

Just go for a pre-built Ceriatone if funds are tight, and don't worry about upgrading anything thay are fantastic amps 100% stock. Why have Metro discontinued the JTM45?

I thought Mercury Magnetics made good transformers.

I have a JTM45 style Metro build for sale on Ebay that has the Mercury transformer set.

The Mercury Transformers were a pretty expensive upgrade to the kit. I like the sound of them better than all the others because they have a nice bright and clear sound to them that the others don't seem to have.

Lots of other builders prefer the Heyboers (Mojo, Metro, others) or Marstrans but they sound darker and less clear to me. I haven't heard the Magnetic Components trannies yet though. Hope it helps.

They are good transformers, but aren't as historically accurate sounding as other ones. I have a modern Marshall I replaced with MM's and they sound fantastic..a lot of it is preference. I think a lot of people don't like them because of that (how they sound compared to others) and the fact that they're sometimes like twice as much. Oh well..
