JTM45 CHASSIS

Post by Golds_in_the » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:08 pm

Does anybody know where I can purchase a JTM 45 chassis with the holes already drilled and faceplate in order to build a kit? Is MetroAmp selling these?

Pics? I'd love to build an offset.

Here's one cut for an RS OT. I did some for both styles.

i'm looking for a jtm45 chassis and front & back plexi plates (or cream back plate ) , that would have a cutout made for an original RS deluxe OT and with all the holes pre drilled in the chassis to install the parts.
if the board and turrets were included , as well it would be great .
does anybody have this for sale ?

i'm also looking for the copper trim that was on the middle of teh head cab , before they start using the gold pipin.

maybe you (S Marshall ) have some more for sale ?

i saw the ceriatone or the mojomusical supply ones but i was wondering if i could find one that would have a better back plate ergonomy/ looking (maybe a cream one if possible) .
i saw some with alu chassis on ebay , with all holes pre drilled but the back face plate was nearly identical as the mojo ones

I do still have a few chassis but they are offsets which didn't have a rear panel just the white front. A white back would be easy though. Chassis would work for any Coffin logo or block logo amp. Full face, split face etc. Different mount but correct everything else. Some of mine are cut for a tag board RS OT but not original. It would probably be a good fit with a little adjustment due to the real RS board is held by the bells. I've been wanting to see how close it is.

I have an RS chassis all set for vintage correct parts. Only your ground points of choice need to be drilled. I can hook you up with the board too.

here are some pictures of a block logo jtm45 with plexi front / cream back and silver disc knobs.

http://imageshack.us/f/39/651jtm45pa1.jpg/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

i think i would like this type of setup like the pictures above and with the cut out to mount an original RS Deluxe OT.

my 66' Park 45 is setup like that as well , except i don't have the RS Deluxe in it but the Drake 784 103 OT , so no cut out in the chassis in my Park 45 .

what you call the coffin logo is the metal badge isn't it ?

your chassis above is not an offset chassis, it's the chassis for a white panel metal badge isn't it ?

is your alu chassis more rigid than the original ones or will it bend under teh output transformer's weight as well ?
how thick is it (in mm) ?

if i remember well , there is one fuse that is installed on the chassis inside and i wonder if it might not be a better idea to install it at the back as well like they did later ?

also, i wonder if it could be a good idea to put the filter cap that's usualy on top of the chassis , somewhere else, like they did on teh mojomusical supply chassis d, for it doesn't get too hot due to the tubes .

do you have some pictures of what do you have to propose ?

My chassis' are cut like that just cleaner and mine have the internal (offset) mounts.

The metal badge is also known as the coffin. My chassis above is an offset. Offsets had white or silver panels and also had the coffin logo. My chassis are the same material which is 5052 Aluminum but I went with a stronger .080 instead of .063.

Some of the first JTM 45's (offset) did not have the internal fuse either. I add it on request.

My offset was modeled after the cleanest example I could find which was the one Vic had PP.

they seem nice.
what do you mean by " offset mounts " ?

do you have a picture with the turret board as well ?
do you have some plexi face and back as well as some cream front and back ?

do you also make the chassis with brushed shiny face ?
i think there was no face plate for this transition jtm45 , isn't it ?
it was teh chassis that was directly the faceplate .

this thrid version might be less easy to repare if the front is damaged cause you can't just replace the face plate, so i might prefer the plexi or cream one.
i hesitate between cream or plexi front with cream back (if available) or if not available, i'll just take the plexi front and back .

do you know where i can find the copper trimmer (instead of the gold pippin ) as well as some silver diusc knobs (but not for 120 £ ! lol) ?

also, i would need to know your prices

Thanks!

The first JTM 45's were mounted in the headcab as far possible to the right. This centered the transformers and therefore balanced the unit when picked up. Since the chassis was up against the cab, the outward bent mounting flange could not be used and it was designed with internal gussets. This is the most difficult chassis and head box to make which is why the Offset JTM 45 was short lived.

These amps did not have rear panels or plexi fronts. By "plexi" I assume you mean gold? These amps had white or silver panels. Some people think the silver panel is actually the chassis but it's not. It is a silver front panel. I don't make this panel.

I have the correct head cab for my chassis but it will fit any JTM 45 cab. It just mounts differently and has different input spacing. And no JTM 45 lettering due to the polarity switch.

Which year are you wanting to build? Sounds like you're after the 64. Mine are '62-'63.
