the Top Hat diode

hey all,

I just started populating the board.
the instructions call for a 1N4007 diode but I also have the Top Hat diode (NTE551) which I noticed many use.
which should I use and what are the benefits, if at all, of one over the other?

The top hat looks more like the originals, no other real reason!

The top hat you have is 1.5kV and 1amp compared with the 1N4007 which is 1kV and 1amp.

Take care of the orientation as the new top hats look back to front c/w the old ones.
