6L6 or KT-66

Looks like I need some expert opinion here. I've been trying to research the 6L6 or KT-66 question and what seems simple is kind of confusing to me. I built the JTM-45 and set it up with KT-66's. They do sound great but the PT and the V-5 KT-66 are almost touching. I didn't get them(the Tubes) until I was almost finished with the build or I would have moved one or the other out. It appears not to be a problem but I do like 6L6's and with the LAR/MAR PPV-MV I'm not worried about getting breakup. I just think the 5881 or 6L6 will give me a little more space because the way the glass is shaped and I have always liked the way the 6L6 sounds. At my age once you get your head wrapped around a certain sound it's hard to want to change. So here is my confusion. Everything I have read tells me all I have to do is re bias and play. But is the plate currant too high? or am I mis understanding everything I have read. I know you guys know what you're doing.
One of my favorite guitars sounds so good through this amp. I have a 2007 Special Edition FMT tele HH that has the split coils and I can go from clean to raunchy with the pop of my tone pot. It makes my old 4 x 12 baseman 4 ohm cabinet really chomp. It still has the Utahs in it but has been been redone and will not rattle.
Looking forward to hearing from you. The old Printman73
