JTM45 Mix Resistor values

Post by coldengray » Thu Nov 14, 2013 4:16 pm

Was doing some work on my Metro JTM45 kit that I bought and noticed the previous owner assembled it with Mix Resistors of 220k instead of 270k. Would I hear much of a difference if I "fixed" that?

Be sure you're referring to the mixers, and not the resistors in the phase inverter.
Have a pic?

The bright and normal channel mix resistors. 270k on the Metro layout...220k on mine unless I misread the AB bands, which is entirely possible. Pic:

Looks like you are correct in your assertion. The difference? I don't know, the values are not that far apart compared to the 270K vs the 470K in the later amps.
Easy to change and let your ears decide.

470K vs 270k makes a difference. But I doubt 220K vs 270k would make any difference. I can't say for sure as I have not compared a 220. If the amp sounds good as is I would leave it.

You could change one to see if you hear a difference.

The amp sounds amazing so I probably won't change anything. I have a 1987 clone too so I have Lead spec covered. Thanks for the input guys.
