Will adding PPIMV pot under V1 be noisy?

Post by strangebrew » Sat Feb 04, 2017 6:17 pm

Hello Metropoulos Forum!
I'm about to add a LAR/MAR PPIMV dual 250k pot in the far left side of the rear JTM45 chassis, really close to V1. An Effects Loop kit all ready occupies the space under V2, so I'm limited on a place to put the PPIMV pot. Have any of you been successful with a PPIMV pot located here? No noise/hum/radio station reception?

On a parallel thought, have you seen the M O J A V E Plexi45 with an added aluminum plate mounted between V1, V2 and Line Dampening pot/ Line out jack, just below it? Good idea?

Thanks,

You should be fine as long as you run shielded wire to and from the pot.

Yes, the other thing you can do is make a little aluminium alloy box to shield the pot from the rest of the amp.
