Any advice welcome....
I have a 1x12 closed back orange cabinet that is loaded with a Celestion v30. 16ohm, 60w power handling. I know the jtm45 is only 30w, but that’s not peak power is it?
Will the 1x12 work with a jtm45 until I can get a 2x12 cab?
Thanks,
Mike

Yes but might be a bit bright and spiky but can fiddle with EQ.
If you crank it heavily and play metal they can sound ok (my son has a pair of v30s in an open back Orange 2x12 and it is a useful reference to compare with my other cabs (we have blues in 2x12 open back, T1221 in Marshall 4x12A, T1511 in Marshall 4x12B , T1217 in Marshall 4x12B, T1886 in Orange 4x12B and Goodmans 50P in Vox closed back 2x12) The V30s are quick and responsive with a tight low end (even open back).

What do you think of the G12m 65 Creamback as a replacement for the V30 in the 1x12 cab?
Eventually I’d like to get one of the metro 2x12 slant cabinets. Any thoughts on those? Is there a better choice? How about the Austin Speaker Works cabs? There’s a couple of great sounding clips with Lance Keltner playing through a 45 and one of their 2x12 cabs.
Thanks!

Re: 1x12 v30 for a jtm45?
Speakers and amp combinations are very personal. I have gone around the houses to find ones I like.
My favourite speaker cab for my JTM45s is actually a lash up. It is a stock 1969 basketweave B cab with contemporary (69 or 70 I cannot remember) G12H30s 75Hz with 003 cones. They are plenty loud enough (100db sensitivity) and tighten up a JTM45 low end nicely.
The V30 will do some of those things - well worth a try. The 65w creamback m will handle the power too. I have not played one with a JTM45 - sorry.
Hope someone who has - or used other 2x12s will chime in?
