I hope I'm not repeating myself here too many replies for me to read everything but I might be spilling the beans here. If you think about it from a psychological standpoint, the most likely part to make a significant difference in the sound of his amp is going to be the part that they're not telling you about. Now, on a physical note, what one part would make a significant difference in the sound? What part was found occasionally on these amplifiers? That part would be the 5,000 picofarad cap on the volume pot. Just grab one even a silver Mica and put it on there and you'll here quite a huge difference even at lower volumes and then turn it up and see what happens.
