you know,i dont think i payed attention to which way north was.i wonder how i could find that out now,lol

the only difference it will make is if you are running two pickups at once. phase issues can be created or resolved by flipping the magnet around.

you know how magnets draw to each other or push away form each other? take a pickup that hasn't been messed with and a magnet that you know which way is north and push it to the pickup u will be able to tell by the pull or push now make your pickup act the same way.

Try a heat gun on it (with the bobbins OFF of course). Keep the wire from getting to hot by taping it down on something or try not to hit it with the gun too much. If its waxed in there, this should take it out. If its glued in there, it may help a little (depending on the glue used). I think if you hit it with the gun, the glue should loosen a little to be able to pry it out.

If that doesnt work, just put the coils/bobbins on another baseplate w/A5 magnet - like if you have a '59 or a Custom 5 or something like that sitting around. Or you could order some parts from Stew Mac or High Order. WCR sells magnets, but they are custom cut to fit WCR pickups, so they wont necessarily work on anything else.

Hope that helps.

that glues is like soft rubber. carefully remove the bobbins and use a screw driver to pry it away from the pickup base.

I'm at that same crossroads too. It sounds good ... but I'm not sure it's better than my Voodoo 59. It definitely sounds better with the A5.
