the pickup i have been using in my les paul is the shredder from jim wagner. it measures 16.7k - here is a clip with everything the same as last but now a jim wagner darkburst pickup ( 8.5k) interesting. this brings to my attention that when dialing it is important to think about which pickup you will be using as you can see the sound changes quite a bit. i think my ears are shot at this point and the playing is not as up to par - taking a break for a day or so - if i can ;)

tell me what you think.

LEAVE THE DARKBURST IN THERE!!!!!! :D :D :D 8) 8) 8)

Sounded so good I could taste it from here!! The low end has gotten that loose EVH feel without the gritty furriness it had a few clips ago and the mids and top end are much improved. Overall the fuzziness I was hearing a few days ago is vastly improved now -- YOU'RE SO DAMN CLOSE........ 8)

Give your ears the rest and come back to this clip in a day, and see if you don't love it. I don't even remember which amp spec you're on, and it doesn't matter, it sounds great!!

the 8.5 p/u sounds much better. On the legendary tones site under the duncan custom evh p/u they said the key to it is the 8.5K and the alnico ll magnets. I think your darkburst definately is better. I know you have probably said but I'm confused by all the posts, what speakers are u using?

Mark
I have a Matched Pair of the Duncan EVH PUPs in a USA Wolfgang,
Duncan calls this pickup model 79 or Evenly Voiced Harmonics.

My neck is 7.93 ohms & bridge is 9.1 ohms these pickups are really versitile and sound great for everything, flat out these pickups rock.
