I doubt Ed ever did it, but bumping up the value of the output coupling caps and lifting the V2 cathode resistor and connecting it to a 2.5k pot is awesome ; I took my 250uf electrolytic off and dialed in the bass I needed at the pot...perfect!You get the VH1 level of gain and bite with some added ooomph in the low-end. Guys, this is sick; you've gotta try it!!! :D
I may have to. Intrigued for sure. especially if we agree that's what the white knob was for.

i like the idea of a trim pot on the board. I think once its dialed its done. agree? be nice to get the resistive value of your pot set where you like it.

since this thread has sorta turned into how to make your amp sound like Eds...jumping channels is another way to adjust bass. I just spent some time noodling and jumping gives you worlds of tone choices. Man I love this amp...

seriously though, I'm surprised ed didn't jump the channels inside the box.

Can you give is shot of one of those laid across the circuit board. I would give us a better idea if the one's on Ed's board were .022... or larger...

hahaha. ok, I'll stick one in my metro after work.
EDIT: I looked at some more pics of the old Arco Buffer caps, and I think Ed's is a .0022uf, but is larger because it's a higher coltage rating. The .0022 1600vdc Arco/Elmenco buffer caps are big...did I mention these were common in late 60's Bandmasters?

I don't know, I put a 330uf with a .68 on V2 and it was a mub bomb beyond belief. Maybe because I have .1s in the outputs?

I love the spec I have now, I should just leave it alone.

i hate to pop a hole in this but it was a regular old 68 plexi that got blowed up alot of times. i saw that amp smoke the whole jewish temple in altadena in 1972 ...the power transformer melted all the paper to a cinder ,i will never forget it. ed had a fuse problem ,being a 17 year old genius in electronics he put tin foil on it. ...the marshall was gone thru by aeolians music . another transformer of the same type was put in thats all i know. then hose got a hold of it . end of story
