The TSR24 has gain controls for both the input and output... so I was sue to try to turn those down... I set the GE-10 with all sliders set to flat (zero)... both of these have -10db and +4db modes, and I set the PS loop level button properly in each case... nothin' but squeal!

I will try more things when I get it back... transformer decouplingm, etal...
Some info from Fryette on the loop gain select button:
The loop level switch works on both the send and return.
In one position the send is attenuated and the return is wide open.
In the other, the send is wide open and the return is attenuated.
So the PS power amp sees the same level either way unless and external source changes the impedance or gain.

That seals the deal for me, I need to sell my Torpedo Reload asap. :)

This unit seems to really be a very nice product  Not only does it appear to be a great way to tame a super lead and use time based effects (total early Evh land) but it also can take a tiny low watt amp into the volume territory needed for any gig. Very versatile for sure.

Has anyone had luck using effect(s) in the loop WHEN driving the PS with a dimed (all controls on 10) 100w plexi?
Mine works fine without anything in the FX loop... but once I put anything in the loop the squealing begins...
I can get rid of it by turning down (to 6 or below) the Presence, Middle and Treble on the amp... kind of defeats the whole EVH tone thing! Luckily, the controls (Depth, Presence, etal) on the front of the PS can be used to bring the sound back to something close to desirable.

YES... I am using an FX device that has input and output level controls... it does not matter where the levels are! My impression is that something about having the FX in the PS loop is reflecting a different (frequency related) impedance back to the power section of the amplifier. The problem probably would not exist when using a OT with a more even bandwidth, but of course this not the case with plexi OTs. I will open one of the amps this weekend, and try some techniques to to add more stability to the output section, and see if that helps.

The solution is just be to cut the ground on one side of the instrument cable that runs from the Hotplate to the fx.

I've have heard some issues, like to hear how others are doing with theirs.

I think that their are easier and better solutions for getting at that early Brown Sound than what we know Ed did. This fryette enables ANY amp you throw at it to be 'enhanced'.
