Show me a video...it has to be a fake.... arguably better than original. Great job!!!   :champ: :listen: :worthy:

Sounds like the original. Are you sure you played on this James?

The problem with doing a video is the audio. I need to learn how to use iMovie and sync things up. I know you guys are clowning about it anyways but still would be cool to know how.

You need to first choose the mic from the operating system and NOT in iMovie before you start to record. Before you launch iMovie, go to System Preferences, then go to Sound, and select whatever mic you're using instead of your built in.

Go ahead and launch iMovie. Your built in cam will now record audio with the selected device.Choose voice in or USB mic and NOT built-in mic.

Convincing clips for sure. I've been using a DSD pickup to try to get that VH1 sizzle with an Ash bodied strat and a single variac and you go and nail it with two variacs and a stock Super 70?.......... my head is spinning. :palm:

A DSD, MM #1300 or a Duncan Custom, all do it IMO. I think those higher output types just don't need the 6 band boosting. Some songs like I'm the One, Atomic Punk, etc. could very well be a higher OPT PU with a little 6 band goose as well. Really hard to nail down the intricacies of it. 8)

Well, the fun just never ends. I got to thinking about impedance matching through the variac between head and cab. Turns out that each side of the variac has its own impedance from what I can tell. The primary side measures 3.2 regardless of where the dial is. The secondary side goes all over the place as you move the dial around. So I found 15 ohms right about the 70 mark, and swapped the 1/4" jacks to see if there would be a difference. And what a difference there is. So the head now goes to the output of the variac while the cab goes to the input. Yup, backards it is. :stars: But listen to the difference. Really warm sounding with LOTS of Alka Seltzer, hairy ass, frazzle to it. It's remarkable the difference. Feels like electricity in the room.
(sorry, just did a re-take on the same whiskey clip since it's a pretty strong reference right now) Ed's guitars removed, just like the "Whiskey" clip.

Sounds VERY convincing... :listen: :vh:

Thoughtful move to consider the impedance matching between amp output and variac input- I didn't even stop to consider the implications..

Well I got to thinking about it by looking at a schematic of a transformer. Looks like there are windings on either side of something that looks like a barrier or a wall. So no direct connections are actually being made. After all, how could 120V actually become 140V. It's thru inductance. So I figured those windings would probably show, or measure some sort of impedance and that's what made me take the meter to each side to see what was going on. Ta Da, I think that's what's going on here. 8)

I know you'll be popping in a stellar clip pretty soon Phil. And you've got the chops to sell the SHIT out of it.

Crap! I just remembered the laugh we had with the variac between the pedal board and head. I was offshore and my head was in a different place but F#$CK me. I just remembered all about that. Adjustable cable runs.
