Here is an EVH-style sound sample.
Just mahagony-body custom Strat, Duncan PearlyGates PAF's, '68 Plexi all the way crancked up, HotPlate 16dB's attenuation (maximum), Celestion G12H, SM57, Cubase.
Reverb is a Cubase plug in. No eq's at all.
Hope you'll enjoy.

Sounds great! I'm curious, what kind of neck and bridge do you have on your mahogany strat?

Thanks !
Strat has maple neck(neck and fingerboard one piece)and a FloydRose original bridge.
I really don't know if it's a JTM or split cathode one. Preamps tubes are 2x JJ's ECC83, 1x Svetlana 12AX7 driver and Svetlana "S" Logo EL34's.

Ehi, Mr. Newlyn !
Your guitar sound is AMAZING !

P.S. Why do I hear just left channel in your clips ?

Thanks man. I don't have any decent software and I don't know much about recording. It's just one sm-57 into the left channel of the interface and that's how it goes into the computer. A couple of the guys here took that track and did a pretty kick ass job with panning, EQ and some reverb. You can hear them here:

Thank you so much, man !
1984 is THE guitar sound place, you're right !
Did you try to build that kind of sound ? I saw you have Metropoulos amps... what is all around better than those ?
cheers

Although I think the amp sounds good, it's not on par with Mark's or rgpalin's clips.

There's still something missing there....

Sorry, meant to get back to you sooner.

The second clip sounds better than the first. If the gear is the same then it must be my ears.

Still sounds a tad dark though. Could be the verb/delay though.

Here're the differences :
the first sample was recorded at high volume with the only power tubes saturation; the second one is at VERY low volume with an OD pedal through a clean booster and bass middle and treble at 10 !
I think that tone controls all the way up, are the most important Eddie's trick ;-))))))
