I've heard 400-450 If you want to simulate the variac thing.

Just FYI. An amp with 500v normally on the screens would have close to 400v with a variac if you variac from 110-90 or 120-100. I saw some spreadsheet type thing with various amps being variaced and their resulating primary and secondary voltages.

I think it's the right decision on a PT. You'll have the choice there, either way you need it for that sound.

Hey Mark...listen to this clip of yours right here...

http://www.markabrahamian.com/rockstah.mp3

I don't know what gear you used on this clip, but you're already PRETTY DAMN CLOSE to EVH on that! So close you almost can't tell the difference. I'm telling you it's not in the equipment...it's all in your technique. Ted Nugent played through Eddie's gear and STILL sounded like Ted Nugent so what does that tell ya!?

DAMN good playing by the way.

Jon

Rockstah would sound good through anything, even a POS cough.. I mean POD  (whistling)

Even if EVH isn't your "bag", the 12000 series
is still one serious bad ass amp for many styles.

the dual taps are as follows:

500vdc and 400vdc , maybe George will chime in on this, but i get that ed's amp was about 450VDC to 500vdc opinions very
ed used a variac. he variaced his amp down to 90 volts which in turn brings the amps down around 400dvc or so...
so by having a ual tap one can immitate using a variac by using the 400 tap! :)
George? :)

Man he didn't not use a Variac at 90volts, he used it as a poor man attenuator, between the amp and the speakers, he had to during the club days, no hotplate then.............get it??? Ask Jon he know how to hook it up...
