12 series versus later 68 circuit versus VH clip!

anyone what to hear the difference!the 1st part is my amp setup to the 12 series specs,the second part is the amp setup to the later 68 specs with the presence turned down a littleother than that the amp mic placement volume is all the same.the last part is the original VH version to compare to.tell me which you guys prefer!

I like them both, they sound very similar and both have 'that sound'. What brand of tubes and brand of signal caps are you using in that amp?

well the amp is a clone amp with an original late 60s dagnall self lead opt.the caps are mustards.everything else is new stuff george carrys.3.3henry merc choke,merc power tranny b+460.the tubes are the same ones EVH used,jan sylvaina 12ax7wa and the pwer tubes are 6ca7s

they both sound good - hard to tell -actuyally if you didnt tell me i wouldnt have known... maybe played different but i think i like the second one a touch better - these are the g12m 75hz heritage speakers stan?

you mean reis greenbacks versus the heritage?if so yes,there not even close to each other!

What kind of filtering are you using? Do you have all six cans on top? Or does your clone have them inside?

i have them under the board.im using dual 32uf in the preamp, dual 30 uf in series for screens and dual 100 for voltage doublers.the one on the top corner is a dual 50uf.

stan do you mean dual 50's jumpered to 100uf in series = 50uf for voltage?

so 32uf preamp

2 x 30uf in series for 15uf on screens
2 x 100uf in series for 50uf on the mains
a dual 50 jumpered ofr 100uf on the PI ( can on top)

is this what your amp is right now?

Not too close for me. Too much growl on the low D palm mutes. And the upper strings don't have that whistling high-mid voicing.
