What are you guys recording with?

I just bought a MBox with Pro Tools. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but was told the Pro Tools software is the industry standard. What's your guys opinion on this?

decent starting out and you can use that interface with nuendo or cubase, any other multitrack software as well. the reason i mention this is there are alot of vst plugins( third party plugins)= = nuendo , cubase etc - protools is RTAS plugins harder to come by = more developement out there for vst plugs -

protools = industry standard = lots of cash
nuendo , cubase and others more consumer based = cheaper and far more developement as far as third party plugs go etc
but see with digi hardware you can use both nuendo , protools etc any multitrack software
with anything other hardware RME MOTU, EMU = you cant use protools

No seriously, I use my computer and Cakewalk Home Studio Pro with a Mackie 1604VLZ mixer. However, I'm wanting to get a sound card with 8 ins/outs for true 8 track recording.

Recording gear:

Tracking--One inch 8 trk Ampex 440c 15 & 30ips. Two inch 16 Ampex MM1100 15-30ips. Half inch 4 track Ampex 440c 15ips.

Mixdown deck--Ampex 440c 1/4" 2 trk 15ips/30ips

Mic Pres- (2) 1953 Ampex 300 Tube mic-pres (octal tubes)
Mackie VLZ XDR board.

For Analog to digital transfer MM-delta 1010 24/96. Cubase DAW.

Mics:

Electro Voice RE-20
Sennheiser ME-40
AKG d12
Shure 545 (8 total)
Cad CS4000 (2) (Large Condensor)

Tracking is done on tape and then dumped to digital. I would prefer to avoid digital altogether but it is quicker for editing and buring CD's. Now that Quantegy was saved by Discount Tape Co in May, tape is back on line and I thank my lucky stars.

hey guys how are you i haven't been on in a while as i have been studying

You guys own some fabulous recording gear and i am jealous of some of it.

I got a new AMD and Asus computer well amd 2800 and ASUS motherboard their flagship model with 512mb ram and 80Gig hard drive.

I have used a lot of music software over the years cakewalk cubase etc.

I recently got sonar 5 professional and that programme kicks ass it is really good cakewalk are definetly doing something right. Sonar 5 has fruity loops does anyone know where i can get fruity loop beats?

Anyway i have an old tascam mixer connected into the line input on the sound card and i just plug my guitar into there. I like Alien connections revalver that programme is really good.
Great emulations of real vintage guitar and bass amps but you still can't beat an old tube head

jon i have tried to convince my mom if she would buy me half a kit but she is having none of it but it is either cab or amp kit. I might see if she will get me it this year and nothing next year.

You just worry about your schooling and education young man and keep listening to Barry Manilow and you'll go far in life. You don't need to learn how to build those rock n roll amps!"
