Cool Frequency Spectrum Analyzation

Although this engineer is recording a Ferrari exhaust note,couldn't this be used to analyze various amps and compare the data in 3D for comparisions?It probably costs a gazillion dollars,but I thought this might be of interest to all you recording people:

Absolutely.
A friend of mine has scopes with Spectrum Analysis.
You can set the sig gen to sweep, and have it automatcily calculate upper and lower freequency roll off, and graph it out, and email it out via the Ethernet connection on the darn thing.

We joked about doing a spectrum analysis of a Fart. :lol:

So why hasn't anyone analyzed a dry guitar snippet of VH1 and posted the results????

Yes why not 007,this early Vah Halenology as I call it,there should be a course offered at SoCal University,in the dissection and interpretation of the species Van Halenus,the freshman years,in the mighty age of Roth... :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: .
I have contributed my part with the microscopic examination of the famous Frankenstein replica..

Here is a PSD analysis of a single "jug", (palm muted chord) from the beginning of "Feel your Love Tonight".Its from the beginning of the track , left channel, after the cymbal dies out.

What kinds of samples are people interested in from VHI?

Now the peak in one of these can mostly be explained by the strong fundamental sine associated with the chord he his playing, which I don't remember off the top of my head. Now, a thorough analysis will involve a statistical determination of the distribution of spectral content in his signal which determines the timbre of his instrument.
