When I record a clip they all seem to sound the same. If I use either my JCM 800,69 or 1978 50 watt head with various cabs they all sound the same pretty much. My clips all have a GBE strings hollow sound. Im using a 57 mic directly into my pc and I am usin a BPM audio to record. Is it probally my BPM recorder is very basic?? Im not wanting to "add" a bunch effects and stuff but I want a pretty good replica sound of my amps. Id be happy if they all didnt sound the same!! I should get a better recording software??

It can be many thing, but it can also be the way you sound. I've seen Jimmy Page a few time, and he always sound the same, no matter what amp he's using. Idem on recording, he tend to sound almost the same much of the time. I remeber that I had a Peavey 5150 and totaly hate that amp. Page is using that amp a lot on Coverdale Page, and it sound like him.

are you using the amps set to 5-7 on volume and also using the guitars volume any?

i hear a 'certain sameness' to many clips of 'dimed marshalls'.

i am no fan big of digital recording,i am old school listen to lots of vinyl still so i guess i am biased.

you may have to switch guitars too,just an idea.

i agree on the page thing too,though i saw page and plant on the 2nd tour and there were several les pauls that sounded very harsh that night, his best sounding les paul had the transperformance self tuner,it was burgundy i think.

I would say that you particular set up leaves you at a disadvantage
I would say you need to look into a a mic pre and a audio interface..

And move you mic around abit till you achieve the sound you are looking for..

do you think it would make a diif if i went mic in instead on line in?? Or on a PC is the line in and mic in the same??Well same sound that is?

Theres really no fidelity to the mic input. the line in is Line level in so if you were to get a micpre you could send that to the line in and might be able to get the desired results that you are looking for...

The question that begs for an answer is how are you getting the mic into the line input. Are you using a transformer adapter or just a straight wire adapter?

wow he uses 5150? i thought oldies dont consider new amps
