escaping from headphones

holy crap i put this off WAY too long... finally broke down & got a basic pair of "studio monitors" did ok on the bay. $225/pair for Yamahaha's HS50's. broke out a copy of "Wish you were here" & was immediately in a state of bliss.

nothing like hearing it the way it's supposed to be...I just got a pair of
Mackie HR824mk2 ........these things jam...oh man !! I only use the earphones when I'm trying to hide

I hate headphones. When recording guitar I like to run a long cord and stand in the control room and play listening through the Studio Monitors.
I play like shit with phones on they never sound right to me.

i know what you mean, i'm really limited on resources at home though. i have found a pretty cool way not unlike what you describe. i now have an isolation cabinet for my speaker that takes a cranked scumback down to where you can easily talk over it. it has a mic inside & i can run this over my studio monitors. much better!
