Gateway P-7811FX Laptop for Recording?

Post by sadwings75 » Fri Aug 22, 2008 2:33 pm

I was wondering how well the Gateway P-7811FX Laptop would do for recording?
It's a slightly upgraded version of the 6860.

Here are the specs http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 1587727985

I'm just getting into recording but don't want to go the mac route, what would be the best software to use for recording on this computer?
Would Pro Tools have a compatability issue with 64 bit Vista? and if so what are my options?

Thanks for any input

nobody answering. looks like it would work. dual 2.x processors & 4gigs o' memory. probably get quite a bit of laptop for $1500 these days. it looks like protools does 64bit, but they said there was no real marked improvement over the 32.
