I have a chance to buy a mint MBox1 that has the focusrite preamps for a good price complete.

The presonus firebox also interests me but I would have to buy a firewire card as well and I have heard the preamps are weak with the firebox.

I've heard clips made by both units and they both sound good. I have an older 2005 computer with windows XP so the program would have to run on that, I have read the cubebase LE has a hard time.

I'm looking for suggestions, I just need a good sounding setup for recording guitars to backing tracks and such.

I have an Mbox2 mini and the bundled Protools LE software is really picky about hardware. I'd check it out first, especially on an older PC - I had to buy a new PC when I bought mine.

oh, also (since you have an older PC), at the risk of spamming, I have a Midiman Delta1010 soundcard that I'm selling if that would interest you. It's an awesome piece of kit, asking £125.00 GBP.

Well I picked up that Mbox 1 with the good focusrite preamps and Protools 6.4 for cheap. Since this product was out around 2003 and 2004 I think the my computer should be able to run the software no problem. I have read something negative about almost every interface so I figured what the heck. This one is in mint condition and I have heard some really good clips with this system.
