Furman PQ3; why is it better than other parametric EQs?

I don't own a parametric EQ yet, but I've been reading an awful lot of hype about the Furman PQ3. I see that people are paying well over $200 for them used. I know there are other parametric EQs that can be had brand new for much less $. What's the magic in this one? Is it just because it's associated with some good artists? Is there any good argument to convince me to spend $200 or more on a used Furman PQ3 instead of $80 - $100 on something new?

I think the Furman PQ3 way to noisy "you must use a noise gate with it"
try to find a TC Electronics 1140 instead
the TC is dead quiet and it close to a NEVE in quality!
But if you want the best you should get one of these babies

+1

I had a red knobber and it was noisey ! I do remember it being warmsounding.
Sold it...
The frequency range on those were huge. The sub freq's were insane ! One slight mistake and you're buying new speakers !
To me a graphic is easier to use (visually too) than a parametric but, dialing in a parametric is another story and an art form.

Sounds like the TC Electronics is the way to go if your going way of the rack.
Less noise is a good thing in this departmento...yes,yes?

You can experiment with a Boss PQ-4 or an Ibanez PQL hybrid in a foot pedal.
