I've made decent recordings with iphone using the memo feature it came with. The drawback is there is no recording level adjustment, it depends on where in the room you place it.
What are the best apps for recording live music?

Re: Recording with iphone?
There are a few iPhone apps like 4 track recorders and stuff. I had one that multi-tracked, but I don't think the record levels were adjustable.
I don't have any of these, but IK Multimedia's stuff looks pretty friggin' awesome...
for vocals and general recording, iRig Mic
and for guitar fakin', not really recording I think, iRig
Too bad you can't just run THIS into the iPhone, there's a nice space to the right to set the phone down on...
