interface?

does anyone know if you can use say a Tascam 8 mic type interface with the pre sonus studio one software? can you mix and match the hard ware with the software?
im new to this sort of thing. I love my original studio one artist SW that I have, im just on a budget for a 8 mic same time interface that can record my band live and for demo purposes.
