I started thinking about ideas, since I would like to write something for the baby on the way. Here's am idea. Just a couple first takes. I did fix a few timing things in the lead track.
And I added some EMT plate reverb.
The MP3 isn't bad, but you should hear this @ 96k 24 bit. Nice.
Oh, the guitar is my stock G&L into a Radial DI, N72 Neve clone straight into RME convertor.
Really nice results. These Neve clone pres sound great!

Forgot to mention a little LA2A on the lead track. And no EQ'ing at all.

Great sound, you've really got me wanting one of these pre kits now. If only I had £400 to spare...

You wouldn't regret it. They sound F'in sweet.
Check out the screenshot of the files in Logic with the LA2A plugin. The UAD-1 stuff is dynamite.

That LA-2A looks a lot more like the real thing than my clone, built 15 years ago:

Ellyana is the working name, for now.
That LA2A build looks nice. How's it sound?
Have you seen the LA2A kit? It's got a blue faceplate, but I forget the name. I'll post the info when I find it again. I think it was on the PAIA forums.

PAIA is still around?!?!? Wow, that's a blast from the past...
It sounds good as long as you don't compress too much, then it distorts a lot. I need to give it some attention -- it was my first tube build and I had it lent out for years. Just got it back. Somewhere I have another one half-built.
Haven't seen the kit, so please post if you get a chance. I have a couple sets of A10s and A24s, though the HA series sound great in these things. Something to do with the mu metal in the can, says an expert friend of mine. At least they're making T4B's again now, which is cool. They don't last forever.

Do you think it'd be a huge improvement using one with my Boss BR1200CD DAW?
I've been able to get rid of the digital sterileness with a cheap £30 tube mic preamp but didn't want to spend more than that on a preamp yet, as I'm planning on saving my money for something really decent like the Neve kit. The one thing I'm worried about is the quality of the A/D conversion limiting the recording quality I get with the DAW.

That's cool, George. When I was still back east a buddy asked us to write a song for a his daughter's Christening. They adpoted her after trying all kinds of ways of conceiving so she was special on top of special. Mom and Dad are really good people as well so we really put our heart in it. I'm proud to say that it was actually well received. One of the few songs we actually got FINISHED! I tried to do my best George Benson on it. George B. does NOT have to worry about me taking his job

Bainzy, I have been giving a lot of serious thought to the BR1600. What do you think of the 1200? I'll be getting my hands on a Yamaha AW16G real soon to play around with for a while. Still going back and forth between getting a stand alone deck or computer set up. Biggest downer to me is the size of the LCD's on the lower priced models but I really like the drums and stuff you can do on vocals on the 1600. Seems it would great for diddling around with for song ideas.
