Or
Mixer > Sound Card > Monitor
?

To be able to record as well as use the mixer as the overall master volume control of the computer.

your computer has ins and outs
your mixer has ins and outs
your mixer has outs to the ins on your computer ( this is how youll get sound from your mixer channels to your computers ins )
your computer has outs that connect to the mixers ins/ monitor ins.

I can go in and out from the board to the computer then I also have Main outs on the board that I can go to the monitors from there. So I guess I answered my own question.

yes and then from there its, just through asigning proper channels, that you can hear , say, your guitar your recording plus the playback of the computer/rhythm track at the same time.

You got it.
Next system I plan on getting a couple of those Prosonus firepods to work with as well as a larger mixer.

Well, I figured out that I have to go mixer>soundcard>monitors. This will work for now. Just need to reinstall Nuendo as Cubasis VST is not reading the cards inputs. Is working though as I canplay guitar through the mixer and hear good output in the monitors.
