Re: Parts: what/where now?
Is there any chance that it would become clearer how things will look on the metroamp store in the next 1-2 months anytime soon? I'm planning to buy parts for another build and it would be great to go with metro for some of them - including the chassis. So it would be great if somebody give me a clue when we could hope to know more about the future inventory?
Thanks!
Best regards,
VintageCharlie

Re: Parts: what/where now?
I thought I'd mention a couple of online stores I've bought from since the Metro store went to limited parts
http://www.tubedepot.com tubes ,sockets , resistors caps etc. Pretty quick shipping
http://www.tubesandmore.com sockets , switches, tubes and assortment of things for amp builders. Pretty fast shipping and free shipping on orders of $100 or more
http://www.mcmaster.com/ All the hardware you could want is here. Going to try their tinned hook up wire and see if it's like Metro's . Fast shipping as well.
I've been pretty happy with all 3 of these but still miss Metro's one stop shopping although I understand why it didn't work out.

Re: Parts: what/where now?
Any recommendations on where to source chassis and faceplates, other than Ceriatone?
Cheers

Absolutely totally interested in knowing where you can source the chassis and faceplates now! I wanted to buy a kit today and have just found out that MetroAmp is taking the plunge. Damn...

I'm currently shopping for parts/kit and saw the Ceriatone offer. Since you mentionned "other than Ceriatone"... does Ceriatone have issues ?
I know that the ressources to build a kit there seems a bit scarce, just finished the Metro kit (100W) and for the fun of it, I looked at the ressources that Nik offers to customers, and it seems there's only the layout, so I chekced the 100W layout and it turned out that whit only taht in hand, there's a few spots that would have need a bit more information!

Re: Parts: what/where now?
Nothing really, other than the fact I was not too keen in the international voltage hole (as I wanted to use that space for something else, given the 50w chassis is quite tight space wise).Stretchy wrote:kdmay wrote:Any recommendations on where to source chassis and faceplates, other than Ceriatone?

I was keen to see a bit of competition, but I really don't know where else to source them from.....

Re: Parts: what/where now?
Honestly, I think out of all the panels I've seen, ceriatone is the best, since you can't get metroamp panels. I looked at mojotone's panels, and well, they leave much to be desired in my opinion. Though Nik's headboxes aren't as highquality as mojotone headboxes. My plan is to buy a ceriatone chassis and faceplates, and a mojotone headbox, which would work. If I'm not mistaken, the headboxes that George used were from mojotone. So that's my plan for those things. For boards, this place is always great http://www.kurtsequipment.com/reproboards/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Trannies from Marstran, I think they're the best option.
Then order all the electronic components online probably. And the solder, bus wire, and insulated wire.
If you are doing a superlead, a jtm45, or a master volume, you can probably use George's guides to help you. I plan on doing either a superlead, or a 45/100 like that. I'm going to be doing it piece by piece, starting after Christmas.
EDIT: If you're really picky about the panels on the plexi, http://www.amplates.com/faceplates.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. That'll probably be more money and time, but you could probably get a perfect repro.

Re: Parts: what/where now?
Yea. For head cabinets, a member in another forum posted a link to a smaller company, with really good prices and quality.

They even do custom designs as well.

Re: Parts: what/where now?
Anyone got a source for the 12000 series steel chassis as I am looking to buy?
May the good Lord take a liking to you!

Re: Parts: what/where now?
George sold off the stock he had of them in 2 hours. But he is considering making a few at a time. Gathering multiple orders and selling a few. Check the Business Classifieds, and post there saying you'd like one. Hopefully George will be able and willing to do that.
