Question: would you like a store for tone-centric stuff?

Post by VelvetGeorge » Tue Nov 04, 2008 9:31 am

Are you guys happy with the stores, service and selection available for off the beaten path, tone is paramount parts and accessories?

An old friend is changing careers and has been working with me to place amps in Nashville studios for sessions and demos. We feel there is a need for a store to compliment Metroamp that offers pedals, guitar parts, cables, mics etc. Stuff that fits in with the amps you guys are building.
What do you think? We're all ears.

Our idea is to create a new website, separate from metro, to supply these tone-centric parts and accessories. But we have no intention of cramming a new store into a market that might already be crowded. Do you have a favorite source for this stuff? Are you happy with the existing stores? Any suggestions?
Would like to buy (just as an example of the caliber of products we're thinking of) Callahan guitar parts, boutique pedals, Mogami cables, pickups etc all in one reliable place with great customer service?

Your opinions are very important to me since I feel like you guys represent a segment of musicians who are more diligent about achieving great tone than many.
Love to hear your opinions, suggestions for products, suggestions for names for the store etc.

Thanks,

george

Reading my post, I came up with an obvious name for the store website....

what do you guys think of:

tonecentric.com ?

That would be great, and possibly stock some boutique pickups from some of the lesser known winders, brass blocks for floyds, stuff that is hard to find........

That's exactly the kind of stuff we're thinking.

Dave is a fellow gear freak and he's got a bunch of ideas.

Feel free to post your ideas of stuff that might fit the bill.

When I'm shopping for a part for my Marshall or a Plexi type kit, it's Metroamp hands down. I don't consider price, as much, in the equation. The service and support far outreach any price issue.

If it's something like a stompbox or an item like a tuner or pu, when I know what I want, I shop price all day. Keep your pricing competitive and they will come.

I can only speak form my point of view.

A range of attenuators might be good, UA, Sequis and the Groovetubes ones spring to mind.

You have the radial products too.

My next acquisitions are recording stuff (mic.(mics) mic stand PC interface and some recording software.

I am probably not the best person to ask as the prices would have to be pretty special to cope with exchange/shipping at the moment.
