Radiospares "de luxe" OT in an 18watter
Any thoughts how would sound a heavily oversized transformer like the de luxe hooked at 6.6k into a standard 18w TMB circuit?

Not very convincingly. Probably flat and brittle.Colex wrote:Any thoughts how would sound a heavily oversized transformer like the de luxe hooked at 6.6k into a standard 18w TMB circuit?
But w/ 6V6's on the 8K taps or EL84's on the 9K taps it might sound nice.
Try it and tell us!

The fault almost always is sitting in front of the amp

Why should it sound flat and brittle at 6.6K? Shouldn't the lower primary impendance affect only the clean headroom and volume?novosibir wrote:Not very convincingly.
