IUd like to know this as well though I think I have a good idea.JD wrote:What would happen (sound wise or potential damage) if you ran a resistor in parallel with the choke?
why would somebody prefer to remove the choke?

Hey Larry,
I take it that Pot's in series with the choke?
Where did you get it?
Does the compresion have a thickening effect on your strat tone?
This is what I'd be hoping for, trying this mod.
To get that compresed feel like I get when I have the Hot Plate at TV level. When it really thickens up the strat tone in a SRV kinda way, but since it's so low, its buzzy and non dynamic,
If I could get that thickness and compression, but loud, and without the dynamic kill, I'd be in heaven.

It can't increase the resistance if it's put in parralell, and if your choke is only 105 Ohm like mine, than all it could do is lower it from there right?Billy Batz wrote:I'd like to know this as well though I think I have a good idea.JD wrote:What would happen (sound wise or potential damage) if you ran a resistor in parallel with the choke?
That doesn't seem like much range of change compared to a 1k in series with a 105ohm choke.

What I'm thinking is the choke circuit (either series or parallel with the choke) becomes an RL curcuit (which is different than the choke alone or a resistor alone). Although the choke has some resistance, my guess is the value is in the inductance, and as stated, replacing the choke with a resistor alters the sound. Yes, a resistor in parallel lowers the overall resistance (and in series increases it) but also changes the circuit type. Never though about playing around in this area...

No, I've placed the rheostat after the choke in the line to the screens and an additional 20mightymike wrote:Hey Larry,

The fault almost always is sitting in front of the amp
