Worth it to upgrade PT?

I'm thinking of upgrading the output transformer in my Leftee-built JTM45 clone that was built from a Weber kit. But I was wondering whether it makes sense to change the PT at the same time? How big of an effect on sound would a PT upgrade have?

In my opinion, unless it's complete rubbish, PT's don't have much effect on the tone. (provided the voltage being put out is correct.

Up to you if it's worth the expense/time. I think improvement would be minimal (if any).

But I'm sure the opposite opinion is around as well.

Have to make up your own mind there. :)

I was leaning towards not swapping it. I think I'll save the dough for something else.

Sounds like a plan. Put the money in the OT, that's what makes the biggest difference IMO.
Get some good glass, and call it done.

I left "well enough" alone in both of my amps. My BBri and JTM45ri both have the stock PT's. The OT, board and caps were upgraded in both amps. :D I'm happy with the voltages. Depending on what PT is used, you could get more or less headroom, out of an amp, by swapping.
