I've been messing around with one of those new Bugera 1960 (1959 Super Lead clones) and it has huge PT and OTs. The output transformer is supposed to be like a Soldano with an extended frequency range of 20Hz - 20Khz. To me, ths sounds like one of those cheap stereos where you push the extended bass button and get that really deep brassy low end like a Marshall MG100 DFX solid state. I hate that because it doesn't sound like the rock tones of the 60s-70s I'm accustomed to. In some respects, it has incredible mids and harmonic complexity and a true bypass FX Loop.
That said, could I use an equalizer in the FX loop to dial out the extended range and bring it into narrower range of e.g the Drake 1202-132 or Dagnall C1998? If so, what frequency ranges should I turn off or boost? I can't seem to find any specs on the frequency range of the Dagnall C1998 or Drake 1202-132. Anyone know what they are?
The OT looks about twice as large as the Drake or Dagnall so does it make sense to remove it and put one of those clones in or is that a step backwards?
