Which Mag. Comp. Classic Tone trannys for JTM-50?

Anybody know which Classic Tone trannys (whole set PT, OT, and choke) would be appropriate for a JTM-50 type amp? I assume that it would be these:

http://www.classictone.net/40-18025.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (that's the OT but suggested PT and choke are halfway down the page)

... but I would appreciate confirmation. Not sure if I should be looking at the JTM-45 tranny set instead.

This would go on a Ceriatone chassis ... anybody know if they would fit without extra drilling?

Thanks a lot for any help.

Hi Shakkal,

Electrically speaking and after looking at Ceriatone's schematic, the appropriate ClassicTone transformers for that amplifier is 40-18025 OT, 40-18058 choke and either the 40-18033 JTM45/ JTM50 PT (for tube rectified) or the 40-18054 which can be used in all laydown Plexi PT requirements since it has taps for both tube and solid state rectification. The Ceriatone JTM50 is tube rectified. We verified that all of these should work with the Ceriatone chassis as well.

Links to the web pages for the correct ClassicTone transformers are as follows:

http://www.classictone.net/40-18025.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ....OT (for 2 EL34 tubes like Ceriatone's JTM50)

http://www.classictone.net/40-18058.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ........choke

http://www.classictone.net/40-18033.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .....JTM45/JTM50 PT (for tube rectification for JTM45/JTM50...simple version)
or
http://www.classictone.net/40-18054.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .....JTM45/JTM50/ Plexi 50W JMP PT ( more complex but more versatile and for both tube/solid state rectification)

Thanks for your interest in our ClassicTone transformers! :D

Just need a quick clarification, both 40-18033 and 40-18054 PT's are suitable for the tube recitifed JTM 50 ... does the 40-18033 also have the multi voltage option? The website only really makes a point about that for the 40-18054, and doesn't mention it for the 40-18033 although I can see the various voltage taps on the spec sheet of the 40-18033 too ...

Are there any major differences in performance between them when used with the tube rectification (forgetting the additional features of the 40-18054)? I'd be running from 220VAC mains.

Thanks!

I'm glad you mentioned you have the 220V as a preference. The 40-18033 is the best choice for this since it has a 220V option. The 40-18054 does not and has just 120V and 240V but has additional features such as slightly better grain oriented steel and the solid state rectification option (which you do not need for the Ceriatone JTM50). :D

So you guys don't have a 784-128 whatever that difference is.

Killer price though. i'll at least be ordering a PT for my 5e3 build soon, maybe an OT to convert my JTM45 to a El34 OT.

Big Mike,

Even though our 40-18025 (784-139) does not have the 100V tap, is the 100V tap really necessary? I believe it is not even used.

Will there really be that much of tonal difference between the 784-139 and 784-128 for a JTM50? :what:

If you are interested in hearing our ClassicTone # 40-18025 in action, please see our "OT Shootout" featuring our 40-18025 as well as other brands per the following link:

Note: In this sound comparison, it is used in Granger's M50.....a 50W Plexi style amp.

Thanks for considering our ClassicTone transformers Big Mike!
