While playing it last night, started smelling something burning then noticed smoke rolling out the back of head. I took the cabinet off and noticed it seem to be coming from under the transformer that is closest to end, power transformer?

It never stopped working, although it did unplug it to prevent any further damage or fire.

Any ideas? Can the transformer be saved? I don't know if it is original or not.

Does not sound good at all.
Smoke means excessive heat, usually means that the insulation on a winding has gone and you have developed a short.
The tranny looks like an original Dagnall - maybe a T2652?.
Good copies of these are available from Marstran/****** and via Metro from Heyboer.
You must stipulate that the new one has the side notches for the twin through bolts so that you can use the original bolts and end bells.
Take internal pictures of the wiring harness and runs, save the insulation and rubber harnesses so that you install the new one exactly as the original.

I think there are some places that can rewind it. Google around.
Usually the rewind can cost more than the replacement, but it will help retain the value of the amp.
I'd get the replacement, but hold on to the original and get it rewound when it's feasible.

Dumb question, but the tranny on the end of the chassis is the PT, right?

Marstran would be the obvious choice for me. If unavailable then go for the Metroamp Heyboer.

Did some research, the smoke is coming out of the left side of the transformer where the wires would come out.

Guess need a new transformer?
