Who would make me a custom PT?

Post by rjmmusic » Thu Jun 22, 2006 2:08 pm

I'm looking for a PT for an amp project I'm building. I need the usual B+, bias and filament windings, but I'd also like an additional 9V winding to run a MIDI board and phantom power a connected MIDI foot controller. (Yeah, it's a crazy ambitious project, but what the hell...)

Does anyone do one-off custom transformers like this?

I ordered a custom one-off from Heyboer today. They are really good quality parts and not that expensive. Mercury Magentics is also a great company, though I've never ordered a custom transformer from them. MM is about $100 more expensive though.

As long as you know the voltage and current requirements Heyboer can wind what ever you need.

If you need a PT with an added 9VAC tap, they can do that too.

Give Alden or Phil a ring.

Thanks. I gave Heyboer a call and have it ordered already. That was easy! 8)

The MM 460 PT has an extra set of brown wires (taps) that are either 9 or 18v. Supposedly for relays/channel switching.

I always tie it off. The 460 MM PT I got off George didn't have them.
Only the ones I bought direct.

It's the MM Axiom MP-100-460M and it has an additional 9V @ 3A secondary (2 x brown).

The fault almost always is sitting in front of the amp
