Hey Worloftone, compare/contrast in your opinion, the difference in neck 'back profiles' between your '58, '63 and your bullet rod strats.

I still want a '68 - '71. We'll see if and when that happens. Had a '70 which was not really that great, and also a '69 which wasn't happening either.

Otherwise, I am very happy with my guitars!

I like the big headstock era myself. I just don't like the three bolt necks or the thin 70s pickups.Corse thats why they made routers and Dimarzio supers...muhahahaha BTW never discuse your plans to route out a vintage strat for a humbucker, with the dealer your buying from LOL
anyways though To me those big fat and narrow necks are the most comfortable to me.

Worldoftone, just went to the Queen City guitar show this Saturday. WOW, the prices  . 70's player strats were like $4-6 thousand for the earlier mid 70's and the late 70's ones were like $2,100 on average. I did see a super, super clean rosewood board sunburst '68 for $12,000. Also was a 'beautifully' worn olympic white '68 w/rosewood board, for $10,000 I think. It was just like Jimi's main one before he went to the maple boards.

Dave, I saw at least 3 'off white' "Malmsteen" looking strats, that I'm sure Yngwie himself would have loved to had. They were a '74 and two '75's I believe. That color must be in demand as they were priced higher than other color's. I did manage to get a '79 maple strat neck. For whatever reason, as I was trying several strats, the '79 models on average, had a slightly fatter neck than most other 70's models. Must have been the preference of some of the guy's working for Fender back then, who actually 'shaped' those necks.

That's not a bad price. 10K for a worn White 68 is cheap. Hmmm . . . refin maybe?

I have a player '73 in natural fuinish I am willing to part with. Guitar show prices used to be great. Now they are almost more of a joke than eBay.

Your right Worldoftone, it had been refretted, as there was maybe enough board left for one more refretting. The paint was just worn perfectly, and unlike many from that era trying to be the 'Hendrix White', it was the origional color.
