G E SMITH TELECASTER

Post by yngwie308 » Sun Aug 17, 2008 1:12 am

Anybody own or play one of these unique Telecasters??
I like the combination of big neck and body mounted pickup, plus cut down bridge, with cool Fender steel position markers.
Also in Black, strikes me as a 'fat' Tele as GE describes.

David,
I'm so with you on this guy. I haven't played one of these models, but I'd take one of these over a regular sngle coil strat any day of the week.

GE Smith can play EVERYTHING... he's done it all and he always looks like he's having an absolute blast playing.

Definitely one of my favs. I'll take a natrual finish with black pickguard, please.

I like the body mounted bridge pickup, the cut bridge support , the fat neck of constant diameter and the cool steel position dots.
I don't usually care for Tele's, but like this one.
Thanks

My brother used to joke that he must have something installed on the backside of his guitars to give him extra pleasure. "That guy looks like he's getting his jollies off while playing," he'd always say.

Sorry to be presenting the other side of the coin here (well, there IS always another side of the coin, isnt there???) but 'ol G.E. isnt so much "fun" in person. I ran into him at a guitar show, and he "wanted" to buy a '64 Firebird V I was selling at the time. Comes across as being real full of himself, like "Hey, man... Im G.E.-- You know... Saturday Night Live??? You should be happy Im even talking to you".

I say "wanted" to buy my guitar cause at the time, that guitar was worth around 4k, and I was asking a negotiable $3500--G.E. offered $1500 for it, which was a real bullshit offer, and kinda made me want to throw that little short-shit over a table.
I dont care if that G.E. means he's from General Electric... Im not impressed enough just cause he's on TV, has wacky hair, and can play guitar.
Certainly not so impressed that Im practically gonna GIVE him my guitar.

... G.E.'s probably an A-hole... but I still think he and Junior Walker (R.I.P.) made the BEST SNL band ever.

... *speaking of G.E. Smith*...

I've discovered a couple guitar heroes of mine turned out to be A-holes... like Nuno B. and Steve Stevens... both of those guys can't stand me for some reason... especially Nuno who always ran away from me whenever I tried to say "Hi" or tell him how much I dug his playing. :?

Personally, he needs to tune his guitar in the Fender clip. ;)

I just said I liked the idea of how this Tele was made..I am not endorsing GE Smith personally by any means!!!
I saw him at a NY Vintage show in the Bowery I was at with Music Ground.
He had the biggest head on a little body, GE Smith. He looked like a smartass, so I didn't say that I recognized him. Cesar Diaz was at that show as well.
Hey, he well may be a dick, who knows!
Steve Stevens..well he is unique

... oh I dig G.E. Smith... what he's like in person I wouldn't really care. I always liked the tones he got when he was in Hall & Oates. I know H & O isn't everyone's cup of tea... but G.E. was always a tasteful player in that band too.

I love Teles to begin with... and that one rocks... but it's something I'll likely never be able to afford. I wonder if Fender will offer a Hecho En Mehico model like the Jimmy Vaughan Strat...

Steve Stevens and Nuno probably just have "Napoleon Syndrome"... and I'll leave it at that... ;)

Hey... that'd be a kewl name for a band... o' shorties that is...
