My aunt is having problems with her taxes and selling one of her deceased boyfriends guitars. I would like to keep it in the family. The guitar is a Ibanez RG570. I was wondering what would be a good offer for her. I can find 570s for under $400. What would be a good price for her and me?
Thanks
Will

Re: Ibanez RG570
What year?
Condition?
This is the one that is essentially a 550, but pickup rings instead of pickguard, HSH, correct?
I have seen older 550's go for $600 on up, depending on condition. The ones with the Wizard neck (not the Wizard II) from the first few years are pretty desirable. Neck pocket finish spidering/cracking is common, and typically not indicative of any wood/structural damage. Even "aged paint/finish" do not necessarily devalue it. Less to no neck pocket finish cracking, no cracks in the neck (especially from someone overtightening the lock nut, resulting in back of neck cracking), no chips in the wood of significance, straight solid neck... easy a $600 one IMO. Devalue from there on condition. Add an original case in minty condition..
mmmm...
First years of the RG were my fav. Great place to get more feedback, and possible buyers, would be the jemsite.com forums.
