i have bought a CS 66' strat recently and already had some CS 69' pu's i tried in several strats but i don't know the 65' ones that were sold in the CS65 strat .
i told about my experience with eth CS60 and CS 66' ones in the topic about differences between CS60 and CS66' necks.
i read somewhere that the CS65' and CS66' had the same pu's but i read the contrary somewhere else !
also, i wonder if they have not been made differently as someone wrote about the CS65' pu's that they had copper color wire whereas the 66' have dark purple insulation wire.
i measured my CS 66' and they were both 5,64 K in the neck and middle and 5,33 K in the bridge !
i reversed the neck and bridge !
the CS 60' are given for 6k but i haven't measured some myself.
did someone try the CS' 66 , CS65' and CS 69' pu's in the same guitar ?
do you have the specifications (at least ohm meter readings and type of wire insulation ) for the CS 65' ?
i read somewhere someone measured some CS 65' that were copper color and it was 4,43K bridge , 6,07K middle and 6,23K neck but i would like confirmation as i thought they were teh same as the cs 66' ones .
did all these pu's changes in their specs since they were released ?

Re: CS 65' , CS 66' and CS 69' pu's differences
Sorry man I cant answer your question much but I did just buy some CS 69's and they have the dark purple wire and are said to have a 5.8K output in each position. They really have a clarity and chime about them that is right in between really warm and chimey. Clarity and Balance is the best description. You'll most likely find the other vintage spec pickups to be close to that sound. I've read that the most straty sounding pickups are no higher than 6 ohms vintage speaking, or atleast in that ball park of 5.7-6.1 Personally I wouldnt go any higher or lower.

You bet...my old (1991 era) 57/62 set reads 6.2K (all three)...i remember Fender had spec'ed them with way too low DC resistance comparing to my readings (i think 5.6 or 5.8K or something like that)...basile865 wrote:I guess theres more variance than we think!

Re: CS 65' , CS 66' and CS 69' pu's differences
someone on FDP seems to say the CS65' pu's have copper color wire but it could still be enamel insulation winding.
i bought an original 65' enamel (purple wire ) strat pu recently, it measures 6,4k with original winding.
it doesn't soud that different from the CS66 ones except it has a bit more output and thicker tone .
at first i tought there was much difference but when i put back the CS66 back in the bridge, i thought it was not so big although i haven't played much with the CS66 bridge pu the two times before i replaced it with the original one; i would need to compare it again to be totaly sure, as i haven't recorded them.
