Sny reason why this would not work for my rear routed strat if I want to do away with the tone pot? What I would like to do instead is make one of the pots 250K for use with a single coil. Should work shouldn't it?

Re: HS wiring
so you want two buckers and a single, or one single and one bucker? either one would work, you just have to wire it correctly, assuming you have the space on the guitar for it. also, you might find a 250k pot on a humbucker too mellow, in which case you might want to change pickup mags or something to let the highs in. that's all personal taste, though.

Re: HS wiring
By the diagram you posted (2 pickups, 2 pots) and wired that way, it'll will work fine. (Im assuming by what you've written that one of the pickups is gonna be a single coil with a 250k pot, and the other pickup will be a 'bucker with a 500k? Nice idea!!).Kapo_Polenton wrote:http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wi ... c=2h_2v_3w

Obviously the resistance of the pots and pickups goes out the window if both pickups are used at the same time, but we all know that already.

Exactly. Doing A Lynch-ish scaled back approach. Forget splitting coils on the bucker as they tend to sound too thin and shrill anyway. Besides, I will just build another strat with single coils to get the ritchie blackmore vibe as I want this one to be a shredder. SH-5 in the bridge and a single coild of some type in the neck (naybe HS-3). As I currently have a tone and vol, I figure just have two vols and not bother splitting between them. I have a 3 way fender style switch in there now so i suppose it would sound like $hit in the middle position but i am quick back and forth. By all reasoning this would work right?

Re: HS wiring
absolutely. depending on the switch you have, you could even wire the middle as a kill position.
anyway, happy soldering! post some pics if you can

Re: HS wiring
Alright, finally got around to doing this. I can post some pics tomorrow if people are still interested. The one question I have is my 3 way strat switch. It essentially has one common pole to which the + goes to. (common), the middle is clearly going to be a kill switch. neck position goes to the 250k, bridge goes to the 500k. In the diagram above from the Seymour duncan site, there is a ground connection on the switch. Am I wrong to assume that strat switches (mine is the older style) are NOT grounded? Total brain fart here.. been soo long since I did anything with this guitar that I don't really remember how it was hooked up. You figure I would have taken a look...
