Bill Lawrence pick up questions ?

Post by Tone Slinger » Fri Aug 23, 2013 4:39 pm

Ok, so I know that Matthias Jabs used a L90 in his '63 Black Strat with floyd Rose, as well as Accept, Zeno Roth (alot of German dudes huh :D ) also used an L90. Nuno & Dimebag used the L500,I think.I have searched the internet for specifications but these pu's arent really explained very well everywhere I check. I do seem to 'hear' that all of these Bill Lawrence pu's seem to have a very tight and percussive sound.

I'm specifically interested in knowing the specs and differences between the L90,L90xL, L500 and L500xL. Anyone got experience with theses ?

I have a l90xl (8h). It is LOUD. But it is not dark or muddy. Very open and articulate and detailed. Almost the perfect pickup.

Besides his own killer pickups and having his hands in Fender's Samarium Cobalt's;
Bill used to make a Stainless Steel string that sounded great and was different or had a different feel than other brands.
They were quite sticky and perfect for the Left hand technique stuff with lotsa snap...
Mark & I used his strings on our guitars while we were at school. Was great that his shop was close and our strings conveniently in stock.
RIP Mark Abrahamian-rockstah -classmate/roommate
RIP Ben Wise -StuntDouble- comrade-in-arms
