Work slowing down on a Friday afternoon, killing time before I can scoot out thinking about some projects scheduled for the weekend.
So, 50's Gibsom wiring in a Strat? Any benefit? can it be done? should we try it?

Re: "50's wiring"....In a Strat?
Greetings Chief,
Can't speak on the Gibson front. But Helped a few buddies I built amps for, build a couple guitars w/ 50's strat wiring, recently. Different interactions between controls - yes. No control over bridge. I keep em all on ten, so it was worthless for me, but they enjoyed the new toy. Offered em up my AllenBradly L?(whatever the right one is) series?(happened to have the right 50's pots). Offered em up free, and they still haven't asked for them.(offered - not selling). The guy with the best fingers always had the best tone - regardless of wiring.
Either way, they're thrilled to have it in there for another one in their stable. The natural humbucker player had issues with the back pickup. Natural strat player was thrilled. You'll have to deal with the 3rd pickup of your choice- going Gibson, and phase of that pickup.
Know you have fingers. Just do it. Don't waste you're $$ on $120 of proper parts(unless you're obsession compels you). My buddies didn't care about the freebie $120 in pots I offered them. Instantally insignificant. A few shillings will satisfy your question.
As a 25 year strat player, I move my pick hand up and down the bridge, based on the treble response I want to get. Suspect you're honey hole is Gibson, but you know you need a strat for a few. If a couple pots or caps , make you comfy then do it. Bartender only sells drinks when you are comfy. Only you can answer your question, Chief.

Re: "50's wiring"....In a Strat?
I did it and I like it.
Treble retention seems to work better with 50s wiring on Strats than Les Pauls. I think it's the 250k vs. 500k pots.
I have my epiphone les paul wired 50s and while it is improved I still added treble bleed circuits (kinman mod, 130k and 1000pf in series)
