Do they do individuals?
Pure nickel strings are alot harder to bend + being made of a harder metal then most guitar fretts they will put alot of where on your fretts real fast..

puramid make great pure nickel woung strings, but snake oil make great nickel/steel wound strings as well. these are great for playing heavier stuff on gibbys. they sound brighter than the pure nickel strings

I love pyramids though

yes, harder to bend. fells stiffer.
but the metal is softer. it results in less fret wear

I go tthe vintage. Only thing is I havent changed my strings in a long time and I dont have any pyramids laying around. I should order a couple but I dont think it would be a fair comparison since Ill probably like the SOS right off for being a new pure nickel set versus worn pyramids. But we'll see.

You know what. FUCK these strings. I just got around to putting them on my strat tonight and I broke a high E string that fast. Fuck it and fuck them. I dont want to hear how they work for everyone else- fuck em. I know how to string a fucking guitar Ive been doing it for well over ten years and I rarely break a string ever but both times I tried these strings they broke horribly on me so it was a waste of money both times. Pyramids for me as usual. A bit more expensive but they sound awesome and get there fast and I dont think Ive ever broken a single Pyramid. This thread is the last time Ill ever post about them since I have nothing good to say and I see Im in the minority as Im the only person Ive seen who seems to ever have anything bad with these strings. I guess its a bad matchup of karmas or something. So I wont go and turn anyone else away but right here and now Im pissed

*takes deep breath* They do sound good tho. The 5 strings Im playing with. A touch harsh but Ive been playing with 2 month old pyramids so I expected that. Should break in decent.

pyramids are excellent for pure nickel. but snake oil is best for the brighter nickel/steel alloy (the rock set)

Damn, Danny. You're right again. I just tried a set of pyramids on my Epi Sheraton project (just installed a WCR Crossroads in the bridge). I swear I did not stretch them at all. Put them on and tuned to pitch and they were there! Howz that happen??????

Geez I was pretty pissed when I broke taht string 8)

Pyramids have been around a long time. I just heard people talk about them and tried em. Honestly, I put the SOB on my LP and I think Ill stick with pyramids. Pyramids always did sound broken in right out of the package and stay that way for a long time. I dont think they play any stiffer/harder either. I use 11s on LPs and they sound awesome.

Hey Chief hows the WCR? Im right about to pull the trigger on a set. Im trying to come to a decision. Crossroads, Bets, or darkburst. I like the High Orders but I want to try soemthing else. I dont know if Im getting the detail from the HOs I want.

Haven't had much time on it yet, Dan. But out of the box I like it way betetr than the Pearly Gates I had in there. I have Fillmores in my LP Custom. I wasn't too knocked out by the fill's until I had some friends over to jam. One guy was using that Paul through a Victoria Double Deluxe and from across the room it sounded mighty fine!

Pyramid Nickel Classics are the *best* strings I've tried, period. Including Snake Oils, which I like a lot. But those Pyramids in the orange packaging (got them from Toneman Don Butler) are *da bomb* for classic tones. Put them on, tug them lightly, string to pitch, and go. Instantly noticeable - these are *superb* strings. You can simply feel it right away.

They sound pretty good too..
