I think this one is a sweet looking (and sounding) Les Paul. According to a guitar reseller, this Paul at one time belonged to Elliott Easton of "The Cars".

Does age have anything to do with anything except retirement ? I thought that Slash totally brought out what is great about a Les Pauls tone in that jam. His playing was very melodic, and he had great control of the dynamics.
I have a 4/12 that looks just like the one in the pic. Basket weave, I believe, is what the grill cloth is called ?

I think that LP Slash is playing is one of the copies by either Chris Derrig or Peter ‘Max’ Baranet? I'm thinking its a Baranet.

My Les Paul has a lower horn similar to Slash's famous repro. It seems that there was a decent amount of variation on that from Gibson, especially in the '58-'60 Pauls.
My grille cloth looks to be a khaki and black weave color. I guess that its still a Salt & Pepper style ?

The horn is the most noticable because of handmade aspect. First the template is traced by hand, band sawed, sanded, routed for binding, binding scraped, sanded again.

Here is a '52 I took pics of on Saturday. Its in a local shop. Been hanging there for years. Still owed by the original owner. He bought it in 52-53 and played in a travelling big band music production. Don't know his name.Apparently this thing has seen the world. The shop is asking $18,000.00 for it.

I'm hoping to get a few better pics this weekend. Maybe play it!

Note the area with the pickup selector...its perfectly straight, no outward taper. Extremely rare to see something like that.

The cab in my pic is a Marshall 2061 CX (2x12") slant front w/2 x Celestion G12H30 Anniversary speakers. VH5150 is correct, it's salt and pepper grill cloth. The 70's Marshall cabs had the "basket weave" grill cloth.

If the 52' Les Paul GT came stock like this, with the flattened region by the toggle switch, then it could be a rarity or possibly a "one off". I kinda doubt it though, as I have never seen this guitar or one like it in any collectible vintage guitar publication (and it would definitely be collectible if it were).
