I built my first frankenstrat with an original Floyd Rose. This is the first time I have set up an OFR. The intonation is a bitch. Anybody got any tips or tricks to help. The instructions I have found all say to basically GUESS where you think the saddle should be, lock it down, re tune the string and test it. Repeat WHEN necessary....

Thanks, Dave. I've been to most of those sights. I just found this tool. This oughta do it. It uses a bracket and screw to keep tension on the lock rod. Then you can adjust like a typical saddle that has adjustment screws.

Ugh Setting up Floyds and Floyd types is the very reason why I love Kahlers so much. I know that tool you showed is the easiest way to get going. I know that Stew Mac used to sell them as well. It hooks on to the back of the fine tuner riser and saddle bolt and the thumb screw on the tool moves the saddle back and forth.

Thanks for the pic, Dave. That gives me a good ball as to where to start the saddles. I found a giude on the fender site as to how to rough in saddle position on a brand new bridge. That plus your pic has me in the ball park. Now to fine intonate...

That key tool show up in a number of google hits except everybody has NO stock. Seems they have been waiting fro the manufacturer to get his ass in gear. I did find one on Ebay and I should have it in a few days. Of course the guy who was selling it is on Long Island only afew towns from where I used to live. I could have picked it up in 20 minutes... :x

I'm gonna try and jury rig something. Stay tuned...

BTW, Dave I'm calling this my tribute guitar to EVH, Rory and JB!

I remember having trouble finding these in stock myself. I did manage to find some though, but I can't exactly remember where. I *think* it was from this place. Maybe send them an email to find out. I bought two of them just because they were so difficult to find.

I found one on ebay. Ordered it. It was shipped then I got an email from the guy saying the envelope was returned to him "torn open" and no key tool.... :?

Now he's out of stock and has them on back order like everyone else...

dump the bar all the way down and when the string is loose you can losten and adjust the saddle, I also change out pickups this way. dump the bar and sneak the pickup out. Dont have to change strings everytime
