Gary Moore Using New Gibson BFG Les Paul
Gary is using a new Les paul BFG model on his current tour,a stripped down chambered ,rewired ,unfinished model with a P90 in the neck and a BurstBucker 3 in the bridge:

Looks cool, though no gig bag for me...
Now all Gary needs is his new Metro backline....

LOL! Well, you could have a point there. . .Flames1950 wrote:Yeah, but you won't get all precious when you bang it into something onstage like you would a nice sunburst, will you?jfhudak wrote:That is the ugliest fuckin Les Paul I have seen since they released those pink ultralight Customs in the 80s.
Blech!
Actually, I bang my guitars pretty regularly cause I gig'em. I've got the 54 RI Black Beauty and the 57 Black Beauty (3 pickup). I've also got a Firebird V and a 52 RI Tele. They all have their beauty marks.
They aren't abused mind you, but I don't hang them on a wall, either.

For what it is, I'll bet that Gibson is charging an arm and a leg for it. You can bank on that. . .yngwie308 wrote:It can't be any worse than the Gibson Hysterical series, with their overinflated, almost completely accurate features.
How does it play?I will soon find out, just like the MIM late sixties reverse headstock Strat, all bang for the buck...
I personally find rhe pissing off of LPF guys appealing![]()

!
I'm sure it sounds great or Gary wouldn't play it,as he has many fine guitars to play, including his remaining '59 Standard.
I am most eager to play it.

Cool. That's not so bad, but it's still $958.99 more than I'd pay for it.HIn wrote:959 at MF. Can't wait to hear it.jfhudak wrote:For what it is, I'll bet that Gibson is charging an arm and a leg for it. You can bank on that. . .
Take care
Dan
But hey, no worries. If y'all like'em, play them in good health and God bless!

Yes +1 on that one WOT,as you know for ages I have been complaining of the less than his standard choice of amps and pedals, maybe with all this experimentation,he will finally turn to a Metro

For those who don't care for the BFG guitar, here is a different sort of Gibson,a ten foot high one...

Truly Gary has left his distinctive mark on a Les Paul for sure!
Plus Gary in Khazistan:

paulster,I have never heard Gary's '57 Goldtop actually being played, for my taste I prefer Gold Tops pre- humbuckers, the Sunburst Standard sounds completely different to a Goldtop though, maybe the two piece tops as opposed to 3 pieces and the finish being thinner on the burst as opposed to the gold paint...?
I went over to Marshall amp forum by the way today and they are all praising the JVM and saying what a sweet sound Gary is getting from his DSL..
,I won't mention names as he posts here too and I am in enuff trouble lately
.
On the Gary Moore forum, they are 50/50 as to the new CD.

No, I meant he played the BFG in London!
No vintage LPs in action unfortunately. It seems to have largely taken the place of the 335, which only came out for one or two songs this time. Bring it back, I say.
He didn't seem to be happy with the tone from one of the DSLs through the entire show though as in nearly every song he'd either wave to a tech to adjust the amp, or go over and do it himself.
He did, however, play Parisienne Walkways as an encore track and, after a mildly comic routine where he set the volume to 0 before hitting that note and wailing silently for 30 seconds, absolutely nailed it. It also explained the little cross taped on the stage in what must have been the ultimate feedback location. It was a shame he didn't drag 'Stripe' out for this one (assuming he still has it).
